The effects of sclerotherapy treatment on the legs can last for several years, but results vary depending on individual factors such as the severity of the condition, genetics, and lifestyle habits. While sclerotherapy is generally a safe and well-tolerated procedure, carrying only a few potential minor risks. Brown staining following sclerotherapy is common and almost always fades fully over a few weeks or months. Very rarely a small scar may appear near a site of injection.
Other side effects can include temporary swelling, bruising, and pain at the injection site, as well as itching, skin discolouration, allergic reactions, and the development of small blood clots in very rare cases.
